Feb. 26th, 2003 04:06 pmWe had sleet and frozen streets for two days. It was impossible to go anywhere because no one has snow tires down here; what for? We get snow/ice maybe one or two days every five years. Usually they just roll up the streets and everyone stays home if they can help it. It all seems to be melting now. This is the first time I can remember ever having this many snow/ice days in one year. The really funny thing is that even though I've been out of school for years, I still get excited when school is called off for snow and ice! ^_^ Even one of the news guys who was out in the field went, "There's no school tomorrow!" and threw a snowball at the camera. XD
My favorite "American Idol" contestant, Patrick Lake, performed last night. He cracked one note, but other than that, I thought he was great. The poor guy was sooooo nervous though; you could tell--he had no idea what to do with his hands. Simon and Randy just hated his performance. I really think he would do better in a Rock Idol show; he's just not suited for a pop idol show. He's not pussy enough. XD I really don't think he'll make it into the top ten because there were at least 2 performances that were exactly what this competition is looking for (very good singers doing pop songs with just the right amount of Backstreet Boyishness). If he doesn't make it, I hope there's a really good hard rock band out there that signs him, because I really love his voice.
The bad performances were really funny at times, because these people were so full of themselves they couldn't even listen to the criticism the judges had for them. The one chick that Simon said looked like a ventriloquist puppet--she did! That was so funny! He has so much guts to be honest about a thing like that, because no one is going to want to hear that. But she did look so creepy while she sang; what the hell was she doing with her mouth? She really needed to go back and watch the tape of herself like Simon suggested. The other girl that threw a hissy at the judge's criticism--she so totally will not make it. Her performance was pretty bad, and the song--UGH. Some awful, corny thing called "What About the Children"? Who actually thought that song was a good choice? It was pure cornball. Songs like that are not what general America wants to hear, I don't think. The least she could do is take the judge's criticism gracefully. You can disagree all you want, but throwing a hissy like that... What a baby.
I'll be interested to see who goes through to the top ten tonight. I have my predictions, but I've been wrong before.
