I just got back from an involuntary vacation from modern society. On Thursday, we had a big storm that I heard almost nothing of since I was at work, where the storm didn't hit as hard. I just heard some thunder and people saying, "Wow, it's really pouring outside." Back at home, the storm was much worse; it knocked out the electricity. When I got home 8 hours later, the power was still out.

It stayed out until Saturday afternoon.

That was quite the pain in the ass.

I like to think I'm a resilient person, but two days without power is just hell. I don't know how people do it for weeks after hurricanes and such. 250,000 homes and businesses were without power after this storm, which is why it took them so long to get to us. For some reason, our side of the street and section of this side of the street is lower priority than even people who live right across from us. I still don't get that. On Thursday night, we were riding down the street on the way home from my work and all the houses across the street had lights, all the houses along our side had lights, until we got to this one crossstreet... then our side of the street was dark. These people got power back within hours and we had to wait almost 48 hours. Can someone explain that to me???

After the power came back on, we discovered that the internet was down. Siiigh. That took an additional two days to get fixed. So now here I finally am, and I got my best friend back. *Hugs the modem*

Time to catch up on LJ! ^_________^
