1.) What, to you, does it mean to be a Fangirl?
To be waaaay too into something to the point that people identify you with it. Like, people say, "I saw (insert name of actor here) and I thought of you."
2.) How long would you say that you have "actively" been a fangirl?
I've been in various fandoms since I was a little girl, but I wouldn't say I really became fangirly until 2003 with Skeet Ulrich. Although some of the rock band obsessions came pretty close; they just didn't have the same feel.
3.) How did it start for you?
I'm going to answer most of these questions in terms of Skeet, for the aforementioned reason. He was the star of the TV show "Miracles" and his damn face was on the screen most of the show. I was helpless to resist. ;)
4.) Would you say it's in our nature? Or is it something else that makes us this way?
I think it's in our nature. Some women just have a tendency toward obsession.
5.) What is your first "fangirl" memory? When did you realize you were a fangirl?
At some point I just realized that often, the mere sight of Skeet's face could get me going sexually. It's never been that strong with any man that I could remember.
6.) What would you say are the pros and cons of being a fangirl?
Pros: It's just fun.
Cons: People who have never experienced it treat you like you're crazy. They ask why you don't just get a real man instead of this fantasy. What they don't realize is that, for harmless fangirls, it IS just a fantasy. It doesn't mean they couldn't get a real man or don't want one - some women are just really prone to fantasizing.

8.) Do you think fangirls are often misunderstood?
The harmless ones are. They get lumped in with the stalkers, or treated like they aren't in touch with reality.
9.) Would you say there are different types of Fangirls? What are they?
Yes. Annoying ones and fun ones. The annoying ones are the ones who become too obsessed to the point that it's irritating to listen to them. They think they actually KNOW the subject of their obsession so well that they could predict what that person would do, and defend their moral character as if they've lived with them. They believe they have some sort of personal connection to the actor/band/whatever to the point that it's sad. You actually believe they might pass up perfectly good relationships because the man doesn't compare to their cooked up image of said actor/whoever. The fun fangirls are different in that they know the difference between fantasy and reality, they just enjoy the fantasy quite a lot. Being around them isn't quite so annoying because you can plainly see they just have fun with their obsessions, they don't wrap their self-esteem around them.
10.) Is it ridiculous to write a book about Fangirls? :P

11.) What are the signs of a Fangirl?
Signs of an annoying fangirl: See above answer.
Signs of a fun fangirl: I usually recognize them by their complete and utter lack of the ability to think whenever said actor/band/whoever comes on the TV screen. There is usually a moment when they just go, "Uh duuuuuuh..." and it takes them a minute to get their brain back. Skeet often has this effect on me. ^_^
12.) Why do you think "fangirl" is used as a negative label sometimes? Why do some find us so annoying?
By way of association with the nutjobs. People just can't think of a better term for the annoying fangirls, so they get lumped in with the ones who have a better handle on reality.
13.) Have or do you ever write Fanfiction?
All the time now. :)
14.) Why do you think we sometimes write fic?
To answer unanswered questions.
To continue stories started on the TV show/movie.
To expand on ideas started in the show.
To fulfill a personal fantasy.
Because a story calls to us to be written.
To give a neglected character/favorite character more of a voice.
15.) What is the appeal of slash?!
Just like many men enjoy girl-on-girl action, some women enjoy guy-on-guy action, though it seems like the percentages are smaller. It's just very sexy (again, to *some* women) to see two good-looking men go at it. Like any fetish, it has its enthusiasts.
16.) Please define the word, "Squee"
"Squee" is an extension of the "oh my God I just saw Skeet and my brain died for a minute and I sat there drooling" factor. It's like, you lose control for a short time, and the only noises you can make are happy squealing noises. This, for me, is what squee means. I got so happy I started squealing ("Squeeeee!") until I could get control of myself again.
17.) How would you define "fandom"?
A big group of people getting together to appreciate a creative work through various forms of "worship."
18.) What crazy fangirl type things have you done? Don't be shy now, do tell! :P
Made a website for him. ;) Bought sucky movies on DVD just because Skeet was in them.
19.) Any "deep dark fangirl" secrets?
I don't particularly want to "marry" Skeet or anything that the usual fangirl seems to want. I'm not really interested in "making him mine." I like admiring from afar. A little taste of him would be great, but I don't really know if I'd want the whole package forever. How can I say when I don't know him? It was so sweet to me that he was married and had fraternal twins with his wife; I was extremely disappointed when they got divorced.
That's one thing that really irks me about the annoying type of fangirl, is that they convince themselves that they know their crush inside and out, and they can't possibly have that much knowledge of them. They just completely lose touch with reality.

A very important role now, because it's a major form of communication for fangirls.
21.) What's your best "fangirl moment"?
Going "eeeeeee!" out loud in the post office when I realized I had received some sort of Skeet item I wanted really bad and having people look at me like, "What?"
