Some kind of New Year
Jan. 1st, 2006 05:58 pmGot a bad sinus headache today, so I'm not going into lots of details at this time.
Thanks to everyone who has given hugs and nice wishes and stuff. Extra special thanks always go out to
just_kaye for being there. Special thanks to whoever passed the word on to the MSTies about my dad. I've been in such a dream/disbelief state that it didn't even occur to me who would like to know that this has happened, besides anyone who would read this journal. It was a nice surprise to see Cheryl's comment. Special thanks to
kayekitty for saying such nice things about my dad last night, and saying that she would make him some sushi rolls and tell everyone in the house about him.
I've known K-kitty since 1997, when we met as part of a role-playing game. She came to visit in 1998 and taught me how to make homemade sushi rolls, which my dad gobbled up. I made him some this year for Father's Day. He gobbled those up too. ^_^
A few details. Linda told me that my dad had been in better spirits lately. He'd been munching all week on the popcorn (popcorn tin, always an excellent present for my dad) my sister got him for Christmas, spoiling his dinner. Hee. Is it possible to inherit a tendency to snack? My nephew brought Dad's dinner down to him at 6pm. He ate that. Bro and wife went down around 10 to make up Dad's bed and get him in the shower. He looked like he was napping in his chair, but something wasn't normal. They shook him and called his name, but he didn't respond, so they did the normal checks you'd do in this case and discovered he had died sometime between dinner and bedtime. It seems his death was fairly peaceful. It would have been harder to hear if he had been found on the floor or had fallen and hit his head or something. The medical examiner will not be doing an autopsy; he said logic dictates that my dad died because of his previous health problems, which makes sense. He'd had heart surgery; his heart could have given out, or he may have had a major stroke. I just hope he didn't feel anything. I hope he was sleeping and then there was my mom, saying hello again darling. :*)
I'm going to watch some "America's Funniest Home Videos." People eating dirt and getting hit in the nuts with footballs and running into things is the best mood enhancer. "Ahhhoow, my groin!"
