Stupid, stupid day
Feb. 13th, 2003 08:00 pmSo far today has been stupid and annoying, and all over dumb little things. Where do I begin... first, I got my video card installed last night before I went to bed. At first I didn't think it was going to go in, because I couldn't fit it in the free slot. Then I realized that if I moved my scanner card up, there was a perfect place for the video card. So I got it all in, eventually (after dropping one of the screws inside the computer and having to shake the hell out of it to get the screw back out X_x). I'm sure the next time I try to use my scanner it's going to freak out, though, and I'll have to reassign it to a new port. Something like that. But hopefully, it won't be a problem.
So, I get up, and I tried to call the woman from the mortgage company to set up the job interview. She wasn't there, goddamnit, and didn't call me back. :P So now tomorrow I have to get up much earlier than usual to make sure I get in touch with her and just set up this damn interview. I just wanted to get that one stupid little thing done. Argh. Then, I got my computer set back up and turned it on to set up the video card. Everything installed okay, but now I can't seem to figure out how to get anything I want on the little picture screen. I know it's receiving a signal from the vcr because I can get the local Spanish channel on the little picture screen. But it won't detect any other channel.
I thought maybe still it would receive input from the vcr, so I decided to test it by playing a tape. That's the most important thing to me, to be able to take stills off my vcr tapes. So I try to put in a tape, and it promptly ejects it. I try again, and it appears that the loading mechanism on the vcr is broken. THANK YOU SO MUCH for choosing that very moment to break, you piece of shit. It was working fine last night. Now, it takes the tape in to a certain point, seems to get stuck, and spits the tape back out. ::siiiiiigh:: Before I can test anything else with this video card, I have to switch out this vcr now. Can you say PAIN IN THE ASS boys and girls?
Then I went to eat dinner and just didn't feel like putting any effort into it, so I made hot dogs and they were just not what I really wanted. They're sitting there like a stone in my stomach. :P The bread was really dry so it wasn't good, and I got ketchup on my shirt while I was trying to put it on the hot dogs. Stupid, little, annoying things.
Now I'm in need of a shower and I'm so itchy. I hate dry winter skin. But I don't feel like I can tackle the video card again until I'm clean and itch-free. I know it will just drive me INSANE to be fumbling with that vcr and at the same time, itching and scratching and greasy dirty hair falling in my face, arrrrrrrgh...
The rest of the day better be better. I'm irritated enough as it is. I want to take a still off a tape before the day is done, or I'm gettin' the sledgehammer. >:)
