I love "Supernatural." I really do. But its main creator, Eric Kripke, gets on my nerves. I'm pretty much convinced that the show is so good mostly because of everyone else who worked on it. Honestly, I wouldn't be watching it now if it wasn't for Jensen Ackles. The show would have had a really hard time hooking me if it wasn't for him. It's like how I feel about Joss Whedon, although I think he has more natural writing talent than Kripke does - I am one of few "Buffy" fans who doesn't think Joss is a "genius," a "god." He made a good show, but certain things about him get on my nerves too.

Anyway, I babble because of something Kripke said during the extras on the SPN DVD's. And I paraphrase:

"When I originally pitched 'Supernatural' to the WB, the idea I had was that it be about a reporter who went around investigating the supernatural, all these urban legends and stuff."

Wow, hm, what a great idea, Kripke. I liked it even more WHEN IT WAS CALLED "KOLCHAK THE NIGHT STALKER," you GIT.

I mean, sheesh, I know some ideas are similar and all that, but it's the same goddamn idea.

And the new version of Kolchak was on tv at the same time as the first season of SPN. Good thing the WB said no, because the show is much better as a semi-rip of "Route 66."
