Went to the doctor today. Will talk about that in a minute.

First, I want to say that it is pretty hard to take a bad picture of Jensen Ackles, unless he made a strange choice in apparel. But even for someone that mind-blowingly good looking, there are some pictures that just stand out as "oh my god I think my panties just exploded." The one on my new icon is one of them. Holy crap, does he look good. One of those smoldering looks that impregnates women on the spot.

Random comment, and please feel free to ignore if it hits too close to home because you do this, but it really bugs me when fanfic writers make Dean go to Ren Fests, play "Magic The Gathering," or play Dungeons and Dragons. The man didn't even know what RPG stood for, nor what it was! He's a party guy, he doesn't do nerd stuff! SO out of character. "Nerd" is Sam territory. That would be kind of funny, Sam trying to get Dean into something nerdy and Dean being like pffft, whatever dude. And then he punches a leather mug maker. Huzzah!

Various things the doctor said:

1. He thought my reaction to the Midol was probably an allergic reaction. It makes a great deal of sense. I completely forgot that it has a warning on the package for aspirin-sensitive people, which I am. I was supposed to consult my doctor before taking it. I was a little late with that, but anyway... I haven't taken aspirin in about 20 years because of my allergy. One of the things it used to do to me was make me sleep a lot, when I wasn't wandering around in a hallucinatory haze. So, I think that's what happened. I told the doctor that after I took the Midol, it was like "somebody slipped me a roofie" and he was pretty amused with that comment. :D
2. He, of course, thought the period stuff could be a number of things and gave me all the info I needed to get a gyno. I can already tell it's going to be traumatic because just talking about making the call was freaking me out. :P
3. We still haven't gotten control of my blood pressure. It was controlled for a while but sometime this year, it kept being up, so he put me on an additional medication. The Diovan isn't doing its job well enough. My pressure was at about 150/90 today, which is higher than it could and should be. Doctor's like "I want an EKG" and I'm like okay, so they took one. My heart function is normal. Yay! Go heart go! So that's not the culprit. He wants me to try a form of Diovan that is also a water pill that is supposed to make my body retain less salt, which will in turn bring my BP down. He gave me samples of the pills so I can see how they work, and a prescription for after that. Which rocks! That means I don't have to buy those pills for another few weeks, which gives me an extra $25 for right now, which saves my ass for another paycheck. HOORAY, I love it when things work out. I've got "deep veins;" it makes it hard for blood to be taken, and seems to make BP hard to take at times, too. So first, the nurse squeezed the living hell out of my arms, then the doctor, then he wanted to get another opinion, so he had the digital BP machine squeeze me too. According to the machine, I have no BP. I'm a vampire. Hisssss. Then the machine took it again and agreed with the doctor - I am not dead. And my BP is a little high.

I got another prescription for Vicodin, which I will fill when I have a little more money. It's been almost a year since my last one. It's just nice to have it around for the next time I'm cramping like fucking hell.
