Bloodlust, tonight's SPN
Oct. 13th, 2006 12:18 amMy thoughts on tonight's Supernatural, called "Bloodlust." The following post will contain spoilers for the episode. At first, I typed spoikers. What are those?
This was a really good episode. Painful as hell, but good!
Let's see how much I can remember without dragging the episode out again.
Squee, SQUEEEEEEE! "The Wheel in the Sky"! My favorite Journey song ever!
Kripke: "Let's see how many classic rock songs we can get the rights to, and use them in our 'Previously on Supernatural' segments."
The Impala is back!!! Another SQUEEEEEE!! Loved how happy it made Dean. I've never seen him so loving toward that car. The way he was talking to it, referring to it as a girl. We all knew the Impala was a girl. Woooo! *happy dance*
I laughed and laughed throughout a lot of this episode. The cop who didn't believe in cattle mutilations was great, so funny. I loved how in one scene, Sam and Dean were reporters for the Weekly World News, and five seconds later, they're doctors. Loved how they were trying to psyche each out in a brotherly way, fighting over who would have to check the mouth of the severed head for objects. "It puts the lotion in the basket." XD Then Sam saying he's going to puke. Although I knew the episode was about vampires, it still surprised me that the people who had had their heads cut off were vamps.
When Dean made the comment about Florida, all I could think of was how amused
senor_coconut_1 would be with that. :D That's pretty neat, that Dean made the comment about the Satanic cult in Florida, and the reason that I stuck Dean and John in Florida in the past in one of my fanfics was because of an evil Chaos cult. :)
I love to watch Dean kick ass. Is it sick that I thought the scene where Dean sawed off the vampire's head and then looked at Sam and Gordon with his face all splattered with blood was cool? Good! <-- sickie sickie sickie!
One of my favorite lines ever:
Gordon calls Sam Sammy, since Dean keeps calling him that.
Sam: "Only he gets to call me that." ::head nod toward Dean::
AWWWWWWWWWWWWW!
The way they're handling the grief on this show is really great. Very true to life. Because everyone does that shit to each other, the "you're dishonoring his memory" and substituting another person for the deceased stuff. All that was written very nicely, but HELLA PAINFUL to watch Sam and Dean go through. It makes perfect sense, that Dean would have hit Sam at that moment, but somehow, it was almost too much for me to see. I kinda didn't want Dean to ever hit Sam. But it's happened now, and all I can do is go owwwwww.
Oh shit. Did you see that look on Dean's face when Gordon said "Sam isn't like us, he's different"? That was a "my Dad told me Sam was VERY different" look. Oh PLEASE let them be full blood brothers. It's very important to me, for some reason. It would just break my heart if they weren't. I think it'd be too much pain to heap on Dean, who's been through a lot already.
The "good vampires" storyline is a little tired, after "Buffy." I understand, though, that it was just a way to have some anger angst for Dean where he is forced to make a choice - does he want to become dark inside his soul, as much as Gordon has? Or does he want to go more Sam's way this time?
Another hilarious moment, when Gordon and Dean are fighting and Dean finally wins, and he is dragging Gordon across the room and purposefully bangs his head into the wall. XD Dean got off a bunch of good lines there.
I can't remember if her name was Lenore or Lenora. Anyway, she was a pretty cool character, though I think Amber Benson looks better with blonde hair. Aren't there any blonde vampires in SPN Land? Her acting was fairly good, but she could have been in the episode more. She had her mate totally whipped. They kidnapped Sammy, yeee! I like kidnappings as a plot device; always exciting. I'm really glad she made it out alive. If they ever bring the character back, that would be cool, but she'll probably just get finished off by Gordon. :(
And now, to Gordon. I am also glad that he made it out alive. He's a really interesting grey area type of character. His sister was vamped and he's the one who took her out, himself! That's really interesting to me, because he's not truly evil, just broken inside. I'd love to see more of him, and not just to reappear for his "Gordon gets killed" episode. Though... wait... isn't his backstory a lot like Gunn's? Oops. I could be wrong though; I didn't watch "Angel" all the time...
Anyway, they made a good choice for the actor for Gordon, because that guy could make the most evil, then totally normal, faces.
The only thing I didn't like was the nerdy freakin names. Gordon?! Dean called him Gordy, heehee! Lenore? Bleh. Yeah yeah I know, I use some weird names for my characters, but I just don't like those. Anyone who reads this and gets offended, I am truly sorry. You can make fun of my name. It's Laurel. HA! Where's Hardy????
I liked Dean trying to make it better by telling Sam to punch him. Hee, cute.
I must end this post by saying another potentially offensive thing. People are writing Sam/Bobby and Dean/Bobby fics. HUUUUUUUURRRRRRRLLLLLLL!! You know, at least when I write about two men doing each other, those two men are hot. Sam/Bobby is a semi-okay looking young man doing an old hillbilly fart! What kind of whacked out kinks are running around in YOUR head, getting off on that?! omFg. Then there are the Dean/Ellen fics. ::gags, tries not to barf again:: Easy, stomach, easy. ::gulp, makes disgusted faces at the aftertaste::
That is not a comment on anyone's writing. I'm sure the authors do a fine job... OF INTENSE CRADLE ROBBING!
Go ahead, get even. Make fun of my kinks. I like beloved captive stories! Haha, that's whacked! And Dean barefoot drives me crazy. WTH is that about? Woooo, go go go. I can take it. Oh, did I mention I read John/Dean fics? ::ducks::
