Holiday Wish List
Nov. 15th, 2006 09:35 pmI have been commanded to post this, so here I gooooo:
Step One
- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're
comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday
wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.")
The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly
want.
- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you
include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or
just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch
with you.
- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your
LJ so that the holiday joy will spread.
Step Two
- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.
You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.
There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
My Holiday Wish List
1. Chocolate. Special chocolate, like they make at Godiva.
2. A discman with anti-skip protection
3. A job I like
4. "Gilligan's Island" Season 1 on DVD
5. Any "Degrassi: The Next Generation" on DVD
6. To feel confident about my writing again. Some nice, thoughtful feedback from more than just a couple people. To stop obsessing over what is not said and just be happy with what is said.
7. Photoshop manips that put Dean and Paul in the same pictures, like they are hanging out together and junk.
8. One of those hoods with a scarf attached. A really long, thick scarf that I can wrap around my neck more than once and will really keep out the cold and make me all cozy and warm-headed. And warm eared.
9. A replacement for my spider web. I had this huge spider web that I got at Big Lots many years ago that had a firm frame on the outside so it couldn't be folded up or anything like that. The best way that I can describe it is it was like a giant dreamcatcher made to look like a spider web. It was probably four feet in diameter. I hung special Christmas ornaments from it that I thought were really beautiful and a stuffed spider. :D When all the shit went down and I had to move, it was one of the things I threw away because I didn't know if things were going to work out, if I'd have a place to live. Then everything worked out okay, and I want it back now. I haven't been able to find anything like it again. :( (Now I have thought of the dreamcatcher comparison, I wonder if I could learn to make another spider web...)
10. Another wooden planter that looks like a wishing well. Another thing I threw away.
Hey, you asked for it, Sarah. ;) Oh, and I guess I should post my email address: sailorhathor@aol.com
If you want my snailmail address, you can ask for it there.
Holy shit I LOVE JOE FROM "MEDIUM"!!! He is just one of the greatest characters. Not in a sex way, but a warm and fuzzy way. Bridgette is an awesome, funny kid, too. Aggressively cute.
