The power went out for two hours this morning. It was strange, because it started to rain really hard, and the wind was blowing, then it stopped. About 30 minutes later, that's when the power went out. Ooookay... the storm was over. WhatEVER Mother Nature. Sooo, I got my Mickey Mouse flashlight (it's big!) and went into the living room, lit my big three-wick candle, and waited for the power to come back on. I got some writing done (these are the times I am happy I am still attached to writing longhand) which was nice. After awhile, the power tried to come back on, but I heard this big BOOOOOOOM! and the power goes off again. Then there are all these fire engine sirens for several minutes. Can't help but wonder if some poor power company guy went, "Are we ready to try it? Okay!" BOOOOM!! "Arrrrgh, fire!" It was his first day. ^_^

The boom sounded a couple miles away, so I'm not sure where it happened. I just know something (one?) got fried.

I finally gave up and went to bed, but it was hard to sleep because when the power goes off, the air conditioner won't work, and it was getting just a hair above comfortable in here. My fan wouldn't work either. Oh, and get this--the phones weren't working either! Usually it's one or the other, power or phones. I had been in bed for I don't know, half an hour? when the power came back on. Yaaaaaaay!

Casualties of the power outage: I was taping something for someone at the time that the power went out, so the tape cuts off right in the middle of a program. I have to go back to the last commercial break and tape that part of the show for them again, so their show doesn't just cut off.

Worst casualty: I was in the middle of work on my web site when the power went out. I had just cut and pasted something from one page to another, saved the old page with the stuff cut from it, and pasted the stuff on the new page. I didn't get a chance to save the new page when the power went out. So, I have lost all that information. It was something I don't know if I can replace, either--this guy had written up a whole description of the content of these pictures, and I didn't have it saved anywhere else, nor did I have a copy on my site anymore. There's a chance that I saved it in my Personal Filing Cabinet, and so have the email in a PFC log, but maaaaan, what a pain! When I had it all nice and htmled already. There was no way I could know the power was going to go out, so I didn't save as often as I should have.

Oh weeeeeeell. Just means more work for me. Yaaa-wait, that sucks.
