Can't wait until they turn on the A/C. It could be a lot worse outside, but it's warm enough to make it pretty uncomfortable in here. It makes it hard for me to get anything done because once I reach a certain level of "I'm fucking hot," I can't think about anything else. I just get miserable and bitchy and want to lay around swabbing myself with a wet rag and try to keep cool. Watch movies and hug the fan. And of course, aol and LJ want to make a lovely combination of slowness and constant lagging, which only makes me ANGRIER. I'm TYPING, show up on the SCREEN already. >:(

My living room is usually a little cooler than my bedroom, so I'll probably move in there soon. And of course, all the neat stuff is on my BEDROOM computer.

The info for my webspace has been updated. Turns out with my new package, I get *4* add-on domains. O_O YeeeeeeeEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeee. I've used one, on skeetulrich.net. What OTHER portions of my website deserve their own domain, HMMMMM? I already know what I want to do with one, but I don't want to go apeshit because I've got to pay to renew those domains every year. However, domain names are so cheap these days. There isn't a tremendous amount to my "The Ring" fanfic site right now besides the fanfic, except obsessive screencapping of most of the cursed tapes (I haven't done the stupid ones yet, and may never), but I still have a domain in mind that I really want. I also thought with all the content I have for it that the "Sailor Moon" fanfic needs its own domain too. I mean, what the hell, right? They're as cheap as 5 or 6 dollars. Before I can do that, though, I have to promote each of those folders to a subdomain. I'll get to it whenever I'm not melting in my own home.

No new SPN tonight. :( Instead, I'll do a little babbling about movies I've watched lately. The Grudge 2: American version of a Japanese movie serial. I'd have to say that I overall loved this. The director of the Japanese movies directed this also, and he said that he saw no point in just remaking Ju-on 2. (Which I have also now seen, and I say YAY to him not remaking that.) So instead, they made a whole new movie with an almost new story. **SPOILERS AHEAD** The Grudge 1 was just so-so; it was basically a remake of Ju-on 1 with some differences. One part they left out of the remake was the teenage girl who went into the cursed house with her friends and grew more and more nuts as she watched them disappear, knowing she was next. It was my favorite part of the original. Well, that portion of Ju-on is the basis for The Grudge 2. YEEEEE. It was actually pretty good, albeit dull in parts. But any movie is like that, pretty much.
I think one of the biggest reasons I liked it so much was the performance of Arielle Kebbel as Allison. Some actresses are very good at expressing fear, and she was great at it. The scene where the two bullies from school got her to sit in the closet where Kayako died and then trapped her in there, and Kayako came down and Allison started to scream - YEE! I love that scene. I could totally feel and relate to her fear. If I'd been trapped in that closet I would have been screaming my freaking head off too. The movie had so many good scenes. I also liked how they added some history to Kayako's character to explain why there might be some evil in her. It was very cool. Definitely better than the first movie.
I like Amber Tamblyn, but she didn't impress me in this movie, for some reason. Just... not an impressive performance.

Ju-on 2: **SPOILERS** I had no idea that Asian horror could be so dull. People always say that Rasen is so bad, but it was ten times more interesting than this. There was one scene I really liked, the one where they were shooting a documentary in the house and the ghosts showed up on the film later. That was cool. I also liked that Kayako wanted to be reborn. That seems to happen in Asian horror a lot, ghosts wanting to be reborn. But beyond that, slow and pointless.

Ghost of Mae Nak: **SPOILERS** Not scary. Ridiculous special effects in places. Some of the names were just silly. But I still really liked it. I love that we're getting horror movies from other countries besides Japan and Korea now - Thailand! The whole reason this movie was watchable was because of the ultra cute newlyweds, Mak and Nak. (Told you the names were silly.) Both actors put in a good performance. The story was okay. But Nak just generated so much sympathy out of me that I was rooting for Mae Nak to kick some mean jerk ass to punish everyone who tried to hurt Mak and Nak. When those thieves stole their wedding gifts and Nak cried, I was like, "Get 'im Mae Nak!" XD I also thought it was cool how the monks sealed Mae Nak to prevent her from hurting anyone else, and how Nak got a hold of the amulet. I've just never heard anything like that before, using a piece of a person's skull to make a sealing amulet to keep their ghost from cursing anyone else. That was cool.
I had a weird experience with this movie. Usually, with Asian movies, the difference in cultures causes me to have at least one moment where I go, "WTF? No one would react like that. Why would anyone say that?" But that didn't happen once with this movie. I was really surprised. I sat there and thought, "Are the people of Thailand really this American in how they react to things?" They even go WOOOOO at a performing rock band. XD Then later I realized that the movie had been written in English, translated into Thai, and directed by an Englishman. XD XD XD Oh, that explains it.

There's one other movie I've watched lately that I don't want to name just yet because it had one of the coolest supernatural concepts I've ever seen and I want to use it in a fic before I discuss it at length. It was just one of the most horrific, badass black magick concepts I've ever heard of; someone needs to make an American remake of this movie NOW. The actual movie was just okay because they focused on things that were a little slow for most of it, whereas they could have made the entire movie about the supernatural stuff going on in the backstory (or at least more of it). So the film could be improved on, IMO. But not that basic concept of what was going on in this family - that is pretty scary the way it is. The movie also had some pretty nice actors in it. I have got to use this concept in a fic, like, now. Just something about it made me go WOW, that's badass. I want to write stories about that. SPN ahoy!
