SUUUUUUUUUURGE!!
Apr. 5th, 2007 04:23 pmI just don't get enough opportunities to use this icon.
Apparently, surge protectors work. I have several power strips because I have a million things to plug in everywhere, and at least one of them had a surge protector. It had my old computer plugged into it. Last Friday, we got a bad storm. Lots of rain and lightning. The storm had been over for at least an hour, so I got online. Sometime later, maybe an hour or so, there was a big lightning strike and BOOOOOM of thunder. You know how power strips have a switch with a light to turn it on and off? And how often they have a top part and a bottom part that fits together? When that thunder went boom, SPARKS shot out of the seam where the top part and bottom part fit together, right under the switch. The lights went out for a second, then came back on. I squealed really loud, because the sparks and the loud resulting ZZT sound kinda scared me. After all, it WAS only a foot from my face.
The entire area around the power strip smelled like a burned out motor from then on. I threw it away. I was really worried for my old computer 'cause even though I don't use it much now, it still has some important stuff on it that I haven't had time to back up yet. So I snatched one of my power strips from another location (which means my old stereo isn't plugged in now, but I never use it anymore anyway) and tested the computer to make sure it was okay. It seems fine! So I'm pretty happy with the fact that all I lost was a cheap power strip.
Random: I need ideas for a live action model for a character. Everyone start naming really, really hot male celebrities who practically melt your eyeballs with their level of handsomeness who would be appropriate for a master vampire. I want a bit of variety to think about before I choose. First person who names David Boreanaz gets an atomic wedgie. Second person receives mercy. If I feel like it.
More random: Where does one get tax forms? The library? Yes, I procrastinated just that much.
