You guys who may be mad about what happened with LJ in the last 48 hours, don't leave. Stay and protest. Join a comm like

Just to be random, a rant about the Jurassic Park movies. I love them. I love the awesome special effects with all the realistic-looking dinosaurs running around. Even when the story is a bit lackluster, seeing the dinosaurs is totally worth it. (Although much of part III was ff-worthy.) I love that I have wonderful memories of seeing part II in the theatre with a large group, including my dad, who asked to go so he could see the amazing effects, which weren't available to moviemakers when he was young. I love that they made a box set of all three movies and Target had it on sale for $20 (scooore!).
What bothers me, though, the thing that I find a bit irritating, is the portrayal of people as being the most yummy, delicious things that dinosaurs have to eat. I know they do it for the sake of conflict. It still bugs me at times. Oh look, a whole herd of large, fat, delicious dinosaurs running by! What does Mr. T-Rex want? Skinny little Jeff Goldblum! (who is also awesome, but still little compared to a big juicy brachiosaur) It got even worse in the second and third movie, where entire herds of very large stegos were just wandering around, and the T-Rex still went for the tiny, unmeaty things wearing clothes and metal to irritate its stomach. Not that I didn't appreciate the scene where the other large dinosaur from part III had the ringing satellite phone in its gut, but it had just finished off a large T-Rex, and it's going to be like, "Mm, a child!"??
Still, anklosaurs! ^_^ (That's definitely misspelled, but I give up trying to find the real spelling after half an hour of searching.) My favorite dinosaur when I was a kid.
