Woooo! Victory! Last week I bitched about "Last Comic Standing" and how the comics were being two-faced and manipulative, and ganging up on one comic simply because they didn't like him. Weeeell... tonight's episode was very enlightening. I figured out what these people were having such a problem with. Dat (the comic who was being gang-hated) is the type of comic who keeps his act to the stage; he wasn't always cracking jokes in the house like most of the others. So, they couldn't get any sense of what his act was like. Therefore, they didn't know whether or not they could beat him in a head-to-head laugh-off, and that made them nervous. It's quite pathetic, really, when you think about it. I mean, if these people really have that much confidence in their comedy routines, then why couldn't they take the time to get to know the guy and just put the competition aside? After all, when you have to live with someone, do you want to be in competition with them 24 hours a day? Would you want to have to "prove yourself" to be worthy of being in the competition to people who won't even be judging you? Ultimately it's up to America to decide who on the show is funniest, so what difference does it make what the other people in the house think? They just wanted to know if he was an easy mark or not. And they were WRONG. Nelson: HA HA!

What happened was they ganged up on him and all voted him to be in the head-to-head laugh-off this week. So, Dat chose DAVE to take him on. Dave is one of the few people left who is consistently funny. Dat was not taking the easy way out, which is commendable to begin with. He could have chosen one of the three persons who aren't really that funny (except one of them was exempt for winning the scavenger hunt this week), but he deliberately chose one of the two other guys in the house who is the funniest! Way to go! And they badmouthed Dat and said he wasn't funny behind his back--HA. HA. Buncha scared little pansies.

Dat and Dave went up against each other and Dat WON with 70% of the audience vote!!! CREAMED HIM. How's that, ya buncha backstabbers? And he was really funny too. You could see the comics who didn't want to like him trying not to laugh; at first they were busting a gut at his act, then they caught themselves and deliberately held it back. You could just see the panic on their faces. It was great!

Maybe I'm just weird enough that I can understand where Dat's coming from, because I don't understand why the other people in the house hate him so much (unless it's just pure fear and jealousy). Yes, he is very honest and genuine, which they seem to find annoying for some reason (people prefer manipulative assholes who lie to your face and then stab you in back while you're not looking? okie...). And he is a bit obsessive about his career as a comedian, keeping all the colored-coded jokes and graphs and stuff, but I don't see anything really wrong with that. Every organization person has at least one thing they keep track of with an obsession that would scare other people (the spontaneous people). It doesn't mean you're nuts, it just means you have a judging personality (this comes from a personality test you can take, where people who are very concerned with organization are deemed "judging" people--I'm an INFJ ((Introverted... can't remember what the N stands for without looking it up... Feeling Judging)) person). Like, I've got over 800 video tapes and they're all numbered, and I have a list of what's on every tape so I can just look it up in my binder whenever I'm looking for a particular thing. I even put the lists on my computer so I could alphabetize them. It just makes perfect sense to me, but I'm sure some people would think I was crazy for taking the time to organize them like that. Anyway, I don't think those are good reasons for being so mean to someone. Dat doesn't seem to have a mean, manipulative bone in his body. He just wanted to get to know everyone as people and not be "on" all the time; I personally can totally see where he's coming from.

All the manipulation Cory, Rich, and the others (except Geoff) put into the competition this week completely backfired on them--they lost Dave because of it. So HAHA. For once the good guys win. I don't know if it will last, though; originally, there were supposed to be 6 comics left for the next stage of the competition, where America decides who should be the last comic standing through their votes for the funniest one. But at the end of this week's show, Jay Mohr announced that there would be one more head-to-head which would leave only 5 comics. Why did they make this change? Are they *trying* to give them one more chance to possibly vote off Dat? I really hope these people aren't going to be totally boring and predictable and attempt again what they failed to do tonight. Dat is one of the funniest comics on the show and I'd hate to see him leave after what he accomplished tonight. Not that I don't think he could beat most of them in a laugh-off, but Ralphie will be really stiff competition, and if he takes on Ralphie next week... he could be gone. I just can't see this thing ending with lame comics like Cory, Rich, and Tess making it to the final five. Blah! So I'm apprehensive about next week. I hope I remember to watch it. XD Yeah, after all the yapping I just did, you'd think I was obsessed with the show, but I almost forgot to watch it tonight.
