George Carlin, Noooooooo!
Jun. 24th, 2008 02:05 amGeorge Carlin died of a heart attack on Sunday. He was one of my favorite comedians ever. I'm glad that he got to live a pretty full 71 years as a very influential comedian. A man could have a worse life than that.
"Supernatural" Season 4 Spoilers below
Katie Cassidy will not be returning to "Supernatural" next season. :( Kripke said it was for budgetary reasons, then later said there would be new female characters in the fourth season (they will have to be paid, won't they?). Why not just keep Ruby instead of introducing new characters who will be hardly developed and then never seen again? I'm sick of how this show treats female characters. They get little development and then just disappear, like attractive window dressing. I love Dean and Sam, but seriously, I'd like for some new characters to come on board who actually stick around for awhile and grow and change. Ruby had a great deal of potential - what was her purpose in helping Sam? Did she have an evil motive, or did she really just want to help them save the human race? I'm extremely disappointed that she won't be back.
Kripke said in the TV Guide article that the new season would have a couple of female "bombshells" who would take the show in new directions. Blah blah blah. I don't need them to be bombshells, and everybody claims their new season is going to take the show in new directions. Give me some worthwhile female characters who are actually developed and stick around for more than one season and I'll take those over extremely attractive women anyday. I think Kripke just has trouble developing characters or something. He gets rid of them just when they get interesting. :P (Except Bela. If they weren't going to develop her over being an unredeemable bitch, good riddance.)
Now, I know that Ruby could be back by possessing someone else. But I liked the way that Katie played her, and really, what would be the point in getting rid of Katie only to have someone else play Ruby? Wouldn't make a lot of sense, unless they had Ruby possess an already established character. Then they wouldn't have to pay someone else. 9_9
*Sigh* I hope the new season is still good without her. But I miss Ruby already.
