Before I talk a little about Hurricane Ike, does anyone know the name and artist of a recent song: the band has been going on lots of late night talk shows to do the song, it's about war (it seems), and some of the lyrics keep asking why do we do this and why do we do that to allow war to continue and so on so forth? Carson Daly played some of the song one night and said it was P.O.D., but Google searches yield no POD song like this. Anyone know what it's called?

Edit: P.O.D. "Tell Me Why"! I remembered some of the lyrics and that helped me find it. ^_^

And now, the lighter side of Ike...

I'm enjoying seeing Ike play ping-pong with the news reporters who stand outside in the hurricane. Like Jay Leno says, GO INSIDE. One of the local schmucks who got sent down to Galveston to get pelted in the face with rain was showing some of the hurricane damage to the camera and he pointed out how the wind had blown over some outside lighting on a hotel. He goes, "You see how this one is upright? Now look at the next one. Doink, it fell over. Here's another one. Doink." Doink?! XD Bet you never heard that word on the news before.

One of the cable channels (FOX News?) sent Geraldo Rivera to cover the hurricane. You think they're hoping he gets swept away into the Gulf? (Juuuust kidding! I actually don't hate Geraldo as much as most people.)

Female newscaster is talking about the fire at Brennan's Restaurant: "At this point, we don't know how the fire started. Was it a lightning strike? A blown transformer? Exploded gas line?"

Male newscaster: "Of course, this early on, you don't want to speculate..."

XD Told her.

Every time there's a hurricane that hits the Texas coast, it reminds me of the summer my mom, my aunt, my sister, and I drove down to Houston and Galveston to visit family. My mother's Aunt Irene showed us home movies of a couple of young men smiling and paddling a canoe down the street after it was flooded by a past hurricane. XD Then we headed to Galveston to visit with my cousin and some hurricane was supposed to hit (I'm not sure which one; I was 11, so it was 1984...) so we packed up her babies and took her and them back to Houston in a station wagon. One of the last times I remember sitting in the back of a station wagon and waving at the car behind us. :D My cousin was married but I don't remember what we did with the hubby. Buried him up to his knees so he wouldn't blow away? I dunno. ;)

I hope everyone down there is okay. I'm sure many of you are without power, but you'll see my well wishes once you get it back. Sing a round of "Row Row Row Your Boat" for me.
