(With the disclaimer that some of you, I don't know well at all/haven't known you long. If you know that's the situation, I'll gladly make up 5 comical things for you, if you want.)
My five things were given to me by
meridius.
1) Japanese Horror
I love Japanese horror movies. In fact, I love Korean and Thai and Taiwanese horror movies as well. They still know how to make spooky, truly scary movies. The remakes that have been done in America have either been really horrible, or my favorite movies ever. I just can't get enough of them. Sure, some Asian horror movies suck too, but I still want to see as many as I can get my hands on so I can find all the gems. These movies also give me a detailed look into other countries/cultures that I may never get to see in person; what their houses look like, furniture, what they eat... it's such an enriching experience. (Yes, I'm aware we have Asian people in America as well, but the culture isn't quite the same. The architecture certainly isn't the same! I doubt I'll ever have the chance to see such beautiful Thai Buddhist temples and cemeteries in America, either.)
2) Sailor Moon
Love Sailor Moon. Got into the show through the dub, eventually went in search of the fansubs, and just fell in love with the unforgettable, excellently developed characters. It's pretty much moved up to be my second favorite anime series ever. The little girl in me totally responds to the uniforms with the big bows and cute skirts, and the sparkly brooches and weapons. The voice acting is so good that the show has made me blubber bawl with the emotion it gets across at critical moments.
3) Fanfiction
I love to write, ah ha ha ha! It fills me up with glee. Yes, I love to write, ah ha ha ha! The more the merrier me!
Fanfiction serves as an extension of my love for a particular show/movie/what have you. I see potential for untold stories in many things I watch, or AU potential, and I just have to get these ideas out of my head before they drive me crazy with their demands to be told. I am happiest when I am writing, or just when I'm doing something creative.
4) Bon Jovi
One of the best bands ever. I've been into Bon Jovi since I was 11 years old. They're still putting out great music after all these years. Jon and Richie ain't half bad lookin' either.
5) Little House on the Prairie
This show would definitely be in my top 5 favorite tv shows of all time. Anyone who doesn't get this just doesn't understand what a great soap LH could be. A soap set in the 1870-1890's. Excellent character development, flawed heroes, vulnerable but perfectly evil villains, and intense conflict like we just don't see today because of all the medical advances and development of civilization. Does your home have a door? Not the original Ingalls homestead! For God knows how long, they had a blanket hung over a door-shaped space and a gun to protect them from what might want to come in. That's fucking intense.
Harriett Oleson was the original indulgent mother with her spoiled brats who wreaked havoc on the town and bullied anyone who had less money than their family. And then there was the best thing ever, the LHotP-style ass whoopin'. Gimme a jerk mouthing off and picking on somebody weaker than him and this show will give them a spectacular ass-whoopin', usually in the form of someone we like tackling or punching them, or both. Made ya feel so GOOD. Made ya stand up and literally cheer! Yes, I love this show with a passion.
