I think I accidentally did nine days of Happy Meme, so I'm done.

My discussion of Supernatural 5.03!

Spoilers for "Free to be You and Me"

Thoughts at random:

- Where does that come from? I know that phrase comes from somewhere.

- A-HA! Sam IS supposed to be Lucifer's vessel! I knew it! (Just as a huge chunk of fandom knew it, and wrote fanfic about it all summer.)

- I'm not at all impressed with the dude playing Lucifer at this point. He's unattractive and doesn't know how to deliver lines that SHOULD be charismatic and smooth, but out of his mouth, come off boring and not at all persuasive. I have no idea how he got this job.

- I'm not surprised that they're setting things up to be an epic fight between Sam and Dean (Lucifer's vessel vs Michael's). I hope that it won't be as simple as that, that there will be a twist to it, but that's how it looks. The question is, how will it end? The idea of Dean killing Sam is very alien to me, and not how I want this to end. It would be a lousy, depressing ending. I hope that if they do go that route, they will somehow pull a totally surprising, non-cheat ending out of it somehow where things don't end up that way. I know it can be done.

- The thing with Jessica was supposed to be completely different, where Lucifer had given her to Sam as a reward for setting him free. I was looking forward to seeing how that would play out; it sounded really interesting. I don't know why they changed it. :\

- The fact that a character, Raphael, has now brought up the possibility this early in the season that 1. God is dead, and 2. Lucifer brought Castiel back, probably means that neither will be true. It's just not the way things usually work narrative-wise. When such negative possibilities are brought up by a character this early in the story, it is usually so they can eventually be disproven. So, yay, because I don't think either possibility would make a good story.

- Random thought, but I recently read up a bit on the hierarchy of angels and what they're supposed to be like, and it looks like the writers combined elements of several different types of angels to make Castiel. I really wonder if he's supposed to be from the lowest caste; it seems so, if archangels are more powerful than he is. Which also makes me wonder what a Seraphim would be like on this show, and if we'll ever see one. They're not supposed to leave God's throne, but when has that ever stopped SPN from doing something? :D Not even Cas is supposed to be able to look upon a Seraphim.

- I thought it was a bit out of character for Castiel to be calling anyone his "little bitch" but I guess they were trying to show that Dean is rubbing off on him.

- The thing with the lightning and Raphael and how it kind of looked like wings was cool.

- I am officially tired of mostly male hunters and how they all seem to wear the same clothes, like a uniform. I want more hunters like Ellen and Jo and Pamela. Just somebody different, really. Why would all hunters be the same? Why are they all rednecks who dress like they're jacking deer?

- I bet Lindsay had no idea what she was getting into with Sam, huh? She thought he was just a recovering drug addict or alcoholic. Instead, his friends are talking about demons and trying to get him to drink blood? Eek!

- He doesn't look like a Keith. XD

- I like the idea that the angels are lost without God's presence so they started the Apocalypse just for something to do, because they just want Paradise. I can understand the psychology behind some angels feeling that way. If, you know, angels had human-like feelings.

- I also like Dean trying to make Cas feel better by suggesting that God could be alive, although he himself doesn't seem to believe it.

- "What are you going to do with your last night on Earth?" "I thought I'd just sit here quietly." XD

- I'm kinda tired of characters saying God can't be alive because of all the bad things that have happened in the last century. Yeah, world wars and such are awful, but it could be far, far worse than this. By a mile.

- I'm not at all surprised that Castiel hasn't partaken of any carnal pleasures since he's been on Earth. It doesn't seem like an angel thing to do, especially with all the more important things they have on their minds. Not to mention the fact that he's possessing a married, Christian man and serving a God that doesn't like adultery. Just doesn't seem like something Cas would be all hot to run out and do. Now, I'm saying all that within the confines of the show. Dean/Castiel can be accomplished outside the show if you know how to write it. XD

- Because of all that, I'm glad Cas didn't have sex with that woman. He'd be using Jimmy's body and I don't think Jimmy would be happy with that. *stern face*

- Cas trying to be a normal, human hunter was a hoot. XD Oh yes, my FBI badge, you'd like to see it. *holds it upsidedown* XD

- The "OMG I'm a virgin angel and Dean is about to make me have sex with a harlot and I'm SCARED" face made me snort laugh. XD Hahaha so funny. I want a screencap.

- Dean saying that this is the first time he's been happy in years because he doesn't have to worry about his family - OUCH. Just OUCH. When it was obvious that Dean was lonely once Castiel left. He needs his little brother back. :(

- Dean fixed Castiel's tie, eeee. Cas has a problem with personal space and standing too close to Dean, eeeee. All stuff that make Lo a happy Lo.

- The scene comparing Dean's life with Sam's while they are apart was cool, what with the slicing of vampires and lemons.

- Raphael's vessel was one weird looking dude. Any second I thought his eyes were going to go flying out of his head. O_O Good actor though.

- OOH! I like the idea that a person could be so insuitable to act as a vessel that they would spontaneously combust. Nice explanation for why it could happen!

- The comment about how the last time Cas zapped Dean somewhere, he didn't poop for a week - ROFL WTH?! XD The idea of Dean saying poop. XD The idea of Dean being constipated. XD So wacky.

NEXT WEEK'S EPISODE PREVIEW - SPOILERS!!

I've read spoilers so I know what next week's episode is supposed to be about, but the preview was freakin' confusing. 2004 to 2009? HUH? I thought Dean was supposed to get a look at five years from now. That makes sense, but 2004 Dean seeing 2009 Dean doesn't. All that stuff (the changes in Castiel, Sam being an asshole in a white suit, the world in ruins) isn't right now, that's clearly five years down the line. So I wonder if the CW just screwed up the preview majorly, which wouldn't be a surprise. I also wonder if we're looking at future!Castiel or future Jimmy. I mean, the idea that Castiel could have lost faith in God to the point that he'd be a Buddhist is interesting but very hard for me to wrap my mind around. Angels can choose their own religion? Whether he's Cas or Jimmy, it's still an incredibly interesting idea.

Oh, I'm supposed to tag people to do the Happy meme, but I'm not going to because tons of people on my flist have done it lately, and most ignore it when I tag them anyway. So if you want to tell us why you're happy for eight days in a row, please consider yourself tagged.
