Mercy and such
Feb. 10th, 2010 10:33 pmArmored is at the dollar theatre now. Trying to decide if Skeet's cute face is worth seeing it or if I should just wait for it to come to Netflix. It doesn't look like my kind of movie, but then again, did Nobody's Baby? No, and I adore that silly film. Oh wait, dollar theatre means buying a day pass for the bus, which technically means the movie will cost $5 unless I have somewhere else to go the same day. I don't think so.
We're supposed to get some "winter weather" tomorrow. Nothing like what the East coast is going through, but enough to freak out the local weather people. I did some shopping today in preparation for it. If it's not that bad by afternoon, I'll probably go back out and get toilet paper. A roll and a half isn't going to last that long. I haven't been to Supertarget in a loooong time; it's a further walk than Albertsons. I had forgotten some of their awesome prices. Suddenly Salad for $1.79!! Ranch and Bacon, EYUUUUUUMMMMMMMM.
For a while, I couldn't figure out why so many channels were taking long show hiatuses 'til March and April. OHH, the Olympics. NOW it makes sense. I'm kind of excited for the Olympics; I like ice skating and rooting for certain countries.
**SPOILERS FOR MERCY**
I've been giving "Mercy" a try on and off and I just can't say I'm ever going to be hooked on it, but it's good from time to time. I don't like medical shows that focus too much on ridiculously complicated relationships where everyone seems to jump from partner to partner until they've screwed everyone they work with and you need a flow chart to keep up with who's been with who. Whatever happened to nice, simple medical shows where the staff is a family and their relationships aren't the central focus, like "Trapper John MD"? They just don't make 'em like that anymore. *bangs cane on the floor* In MYYYY day...
Anyway, "Mercy" has pretty much proven that stupid relationships are going to be the main focus, which is why I don't watch it every week. I like some of the medical stuff. Chloe is adorable. But I strongly dislike Veronica and Sonja, both who don't seem to be able to take a relationship seriously, especially Veronica. This is my heroine who I'm supposed to like and sympathize with? Bitch who breaks up relationships, including other people's, left and right while she tries to make up her mind? I don't mind a main character being deeply flawed, but those are the kinds of flaws I can't enjoy. If you're that messed up, don't insist on always being in a relationship; you only hurt other people who just want to love you and don't deserve it. One week, she seems to still want Mike, the next, she's all happy over Chris kissing her. Make up your mind. Are you twelve?
Chris isn't much better, but at least he wasn't married.
I think I could really love the show if Veronica and Sonja weren't such morons.
I need a new bed. I'm looking for a good President's Day sale. Big Lots has a "Buy the mattress, get the box spring for $10" sale that may win out. My current bed is 15 years old, with giant dips in it and the frame is falling apart. It's been time for a new bed for a long time.
