More Supernatural blather
Sep. 5th, 2010 09:52 pmThe description of "Supernatural" ep 6.01 has come out on spoilertv.com:
Spoilers, of course.
"SUPERNATURAL" — (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET)
"Exile on Main Street" (CONTENT RATING TBD sptv050769) (HDTV)
MITCH PILEGGI ("X-Files," "Sons of Anarchy") RETURNS AS DEAN AND SAM'S GRANDFATHER — It's a year later and Dean (Jensen Ackles) has given up hunting and is living with Lisa (guest star Cindy Sampson) and her son Ben (guest star Nicholas Elia). Mysteriously freed from his cage in hell, Sam (Jared Padalecki) finds Dean and tells him he needs to rejoin the fight and introduces Dean to a world—a family—he never even knew existed... the Campbells, his mother's family, lead by none other than their Grandfather Samuel (Pileggi). Phil Sgrricia directed the episode written by Sera Gamble (#601).
Not really digging the year time jump. Ouch. That hurts, to know that Sam and Dean were apart that long. I didn't want it to be any longer than 6 months, really. I know that they were apart for much longer while Sam was at Stanford, but that was pre-series. I'll deal with it, but it gives me a case of pouty face. :(
As for Sam coming to get Dean, I wonder why he would do that when he's the one who insisted Dean leave the hunting life in the first place. My theories (some of these could overlap if they happen):
1. Whatever's going on is just that important, that Sam felt he had no choice but to come get Dean. (Maybe Dean's in danger anyway and needs the heads-up.)
2. He missed his brudder, and is using some case as an excuse to come get him. ^_^ Awwww.
3. He felt Dean had a right to meet this family he never knew.
4. Something about what's going on makes Sam feel like he might lose control of himself like he has in the past, and he needs Dean to ground him.
5. It's not really Sam. Sam will show up later in the episode to rescue Dean from whatever has lured him out of hiding.
I still don't know what they're going to do with Lisa and Ben. What I hope doesn't happen is Dean bonds with Ben and then just leaves him like some deadbeat douchebag dad. There has to be some way to wrap things up without making Dean look like a jerk.
Maybe they could take a cue from "Happy Days," LOL. Like, that episode where Fonzie bonded with some kid, and then the kid's real father came back and Fonzie knew it wasn't right to at least give the dad a chance to bond with his son, so he pretended to be a big coward and backed down from a fight with the dad. The kid thought Fonzie wasn't so cool after all and went with his real father. Maybe they could do something like that. Ben's real father shows up and Dean pretends he couldn't wipe up the floor with him so Ben will idolize his real dad instead, hehehe. "No no, don't hit me Mr. Ben's Real Dad!" *Cowers* XD I'd prefer that to, "Welp, my brother's back! See ya, wouldn't wanna BE ya!" XD
Honestly, I'll never understand why they put Dean there in the first place. It really came out of left field. I mean, I know there was that one tiny scene in Dean's dream where he wanted to have a picnic with Lisa or something, but still, she can't be the only women he ever fucked who just happens to have a kid. It just seems way too soon for Dean to even pretend to settle down.
I'm not seeing any evidence here that Corin will be in this episode. Sure, he's a Campbell, but I can't remember if those casting sides were for 6.01 or a future ep. He's not listed here in any way, which could mean something or not. Wah!
Is the season premiere really next Friday? I've read Sept. 10th and Sept. 24th. But they showed "Swan Song" this past Friday, which leads me to believe that Sept. 10th is right. WOW! That's soon! *Bounce bounce bounce*
Spoilers, of course.
