Supernatural 6.04 "Weekend at Bobby's"
Oct. 25th, 2010 10:13 pmI want to chat about the last two episodes of "Supernatural" and Paranormal Activity 2, but I've been having trouble making time for this because of my new job taking up so much free time. So, I'm going to write about one each night and see if that helps, instead of all three at once.
Supernatural 6.04 "Weekend at Bobby's" - Of course, there will be spoilers
I liked this episode a lot more than I thought I would. Bobby and Crowley are okay, but they just don't do as much for me as they seem to do for the majority of fans. Some moments I liked or just wanted to talk about:
- Bobby and Rufus and their wacky hunter shenanigans, hee! They really should do more stuff like that on this show.
- "I don't know, Call the Feds." *Hangs up* *Guy calls him back* "Not me, Garth! The real Feds! How are you still alive?" HEE!
- O'kami, do those really exist or did SPN make them up? It sounds kind of made up. At least they had the presence of mind to cast an actual Asian in the role of an Asian monster. I don't see why so many monsters would stay in their home countries and not branch out, especially with the invention of the airplane.
- I see why we never got to actually see the lamia -- they blew their special effects budget on all the other special effects. :D
- I liked the sexy demon Bobby was holding captive in his basement. The idea that you can find the bones of the original person who became the demon who then possessed yet another person and then burn them to destroy the demon is interesting. I still would prefer that they have pure bred demons as well; the idea that ALL demons were once human is like saying that all angels were once human, as far as I'm concerned. Doesn't seem to be at all true in this series! Why can't there be, like, "alpha" demons? Demons that were always demons and never human, and therefore are superduper strong? Their own species separate from human-to-demons? It's also a shame that the person being possessed has to die along with the demon. Doesn't seem fair.
- I don't fully understand what happened to Lucifer. Is he literally in a cage? Is he bound somehow, powerless? Is that why he can't serve as the King of Hell anymore? Crowley as the King of Hell... meh.
- Crowley doing his Bobby impression was priceless, though. XD
- I did love Bobby ripping Sam and Dean a new one. They definitely deserved that, because they do sometimes take it for granted that Bobby will always be there and be available.
- I'm so very glad that they mentioned Dean's fear of flying at length. When they made it clear that those two had gone on a flight to the UK, I immediately thought of how LONG those flights are and wanted to know how Dean handled it. I would have felt cheated if they hadn't mentioned Dean using four air sickness bags and such, hee!
- It seems kind of unfair, what they did to Crowley. Okay, yes, Crowley was manipulative and dishonest, but why did they ever trust him to give back Bobby's soul anyway? A snake is still a snake. Basically, Bobby got off scot free - he got the use of his legs back and didn't have to pay for it in any way. Crowley's going to get even, mark my words. (Or, at least he'll try.) Overall, I was really disappointed in how they handled the "crippled Bobby" storyline. Here they had a chance to have him go through some really heavy, realistic, human stuff, and instead he had a few episodes in which he was really depressed about it and then DING! magically got the use of his legs back. What was the point in that? Nothing uplifting, nothing that shows Bobby's true spirit, just OH WOE IS ME and DING! Fixed! It was a pointless, lame storyline overall.
- Again, the hunter hijinx! Bobby's neighbor getting sprayed with blood from the woodchipper! Bodies that disappear from his junkyard! Oh, the life of Bobby. It was fun. ^_^
- Dean driving on the other side of the road, hee! Honk honk!
I think that's everything. If I think of anything else I wanted to say, I'll add it.
I took part in
spn_reversebang this year. The art that I made is HERE.
thinlizzy2 wrote a story based on my art, which is HERE, which in turn inspired more art (which is on my art masterlist post). You should read her story! It's got Dean/Castiel/Jo goodness! A great, very realistically written threesome relationship story. ^_^
