General yapping
May. 27th, 2011 01:14 amI had an interview with Sears today. They're supposed to let me know tomorrow if I got the job. Hopefully, everything went well and I'll get it.
Over the months I've had random things to say about various "Supernatural" episodes so I thought I'd do that now. Uder the cut will be spoilers for the last few eps of SPN.
- The whole thing with Dean trying to pull the sword out of the rock was freakin hilarious. And then he breaks the sword while trying to blow the rock up. Priceless.
- Not a surprise, but I was disappointed, very disappointed, by how they wasted all of the potential the Campbells had to have actual development. Don't give a shit about Samuel, but I loved all the others. That was pointless.
- Frankly, bringing Samuel back to life at all was pointless as well. I suspect it happened for the same reason they keep coming up with reasons to bring back Samantha Smith's Mary - because they like the actor and want to work with them again. But Crowley didn't need Samuel to do that job. A bunch of demons or other live hunters could have done it. Everyone's got a price, right? Then there's the fact that Samuel's price was to bring back his daughter. Did that strike anyone else as incredibly creepy? I understand that parents and children have a special bond, but it seems to me that if the guy lost his wife too, he'd ask to have his wife brought back before his daughter. I don't know, that just gave me the creeps.
- Another pointless thing: If he is going to ask to have Mary brought back, then why not carry that idea out to fruition? If we're going to torture Sam and Dean, then let's REALLY torture them with monster resurrected Mary! The fact that it didn't happen made it seem pointless to ever bring up the possibility.
- Also disappointed that Eve didn't last longer. I liked the actress and thought she was an interesting character.
- Lenore, NOOOOOOO! They didn't have to kill her off. She would have been free just hours later, when Eve was killed. :( I just love the way Amber has her speak; she sounds so... almost regal.
- The "ashes of a phoenix" thing was pretty neat.
- Although, I think it's lame that dragons and phoenix...es are represented by boring ol' people. I know it has to do with the lack of effects budget, but it's still lame.
- Jebediah Campbell? Oh come on now, snrk. I don't know, that was just funny. Makes me think of Jebediah Springfield. Not a good name to use when you want your idea taken seriously.
- Season 6 didn't become brilliant until they revealed that Castiel was working with Crowley in an effort to get souls from Purgatory to fight his civil war with Raphael. I thought that was an incredibly interesting and unexpected plot twist. I don't mind that it casts a bad light on Cas because it's a grey light and not a purely evil light. His intentions were good, if not murky, and it led to him being corrupted by the power those souls could give him. There is nothing that I don't find interesting in that.
- Although, I'm saddened that they didn't do more with the idea of Heaven's weapons. Maybe next season.
- I'm glad that we probably won't be seeing much of Lisa and Ben anymore. Cindy Sampson's idea of how a demon would act and sound just got on my nerves, and Ben ceased to be cute quite some time ago. I just can't get into that side of the SPN story. But, how does wiping their minds put them out of danger, really? Just because they don't remember demons and Dean doesn't mean the demons don't remember who they are.
- And what is Lisa going to think when she comes home and finds a dead guy on her living room floor?
- When the demons knocked Sam out and locked him in the room, I thought they were going to do some kind of sneak attack possession thing, but it turns out all that was done just to give Ben a chance to act as a hunter temporarily in defense of his hurt mother. I get it. Just don't care.
- Although, again, not that crazy about Lisa, I did think it was funny that when Dean came to the door and she didn't know who he was, she was looking at him like RRRRREOW, you're cute! :D
- Sam battling with the different versions of himself in order to recover his memories was cool and awesome, and quite brilliant! I love that the season ended with him freaking out over Hell memories, but also conscious enough to try to help Dean and Bobby.
- I GASPED so loud when the Impala was turned over by that cloud of demons. They better fucking FIX HER. Again.
- Ooh, Cas was so corrupted by power, he went quite off the deep end, didn't he? First, loved him betraying Crowley, then Crowley forming an alliance with Raphael in retaliation, then Cas switching out the bottles of blood so he could go off and open a door to Purgatory while Raphael and Crowley had their pointless ritual. All such brilliant plot twists and strategy!
- All the stuff with Lovecraft kinda made me go O_o. A few of the comments made by the old girlfriend of Bobby's were a little too insulting for my taste. And what about her? What a nice coinkydink that she turned out to be some monster from Purgatory. I thought that was a little too convenient. Disappointed that we never found out what kind of monster. I did like the actor who played the little old man, though. He about broke my heart when he said in that childlike voice, "You wanna see a picture?"
- Speaking of that, why would a nine-year-old boy be put in a mental institution for saying his mother was possessed by a monster? He's a nine-year-old boy! Kids make up stories for pete's sake. Maybe if he'd, like, tried to kill his monster mommy, I could understand the committal...
- The ending/cliffhanger of this season was also fucking brilliant. I mean, Castiel is seriously out of his head. *Circles finger by ear and points at Cas* Cuckoo, cuckoo! I was like, oh shit, Cas thinks he's God, whatcha gonna do NOW? Also liked Dean being all concerned for his sanity and telling him hey, maybe you better put all those souls back now, huh kitten? It had me laughing and going holy shit at the same time. I don't mind so much Castiel being turned into a grey area villain type because I think it could be really interesting. I do hope that he can be fixed and the boys will be able to forgive him someday. It's not like Sam and Dean don't have personal experience with how power corrupts and the consequences of its misuse. Also, I remember Misha once said in an interview that he'd love to play Castiel as a villain. Looks like he got his wish.
I believe that's all I wanted to comment on. If I think of anything else, I'll add it.
