sailorhathorI've mentioned that I'm transferring my videotapes to DVD. Years ago, I taped the 10 episodes of "Ally McBeal" that starred Jon Bon Jovi because I'm a huge fan, and the fact that I actually sat through that show should tell you how big of a fan I am. Today I had the brilliant idea to transfer those episodes, but only the scenes with Jon in them. I've still got 3 episodes to go.
If you were a fan of "Ally McBeal," probably not a good idea to read this post, 'cause you're probably just going to get all offended.
I'm asking myself now, is Jon really worth this?
Even when I'm fastforwarding through most of these episodes, I'm asking myself, how did anyone ever watch this vapid, boring, annoyingly unrealistic, GOLDEN GLOBE-WINNING???? piece of tripe? I can hardly get through one episode, let alone ten. I'm not even sure where to start. First off, I've never liked Calista Flockhart's way of using cute little pouts to flog her way through every scene. She makes me want to scream with how cutesy she tries to be because she packs it on too much. The writing is just as bad. Every damn scene is so vapidly charming and cute and i's-dotted-with-hearts and NOBODY ACTS THAT WAY. It's supposed to be funny, but instead it's eyes rolling and teehee, isn't it adorable how vapid and stupid we all act and yet, we run a very successful law firm. Teehee. We don't ever have anything more important to talk about than relationships because what else is there to life? Teehee. And the writers just have Ally say and do the most unrealistic bullshit that no one would ever say or do and ISN'T IT JUST ADORABLE DON'T YOU JUST LOVE HER FOR BEING SUCH A BUMBLING MORON??? NO, I don't. I want to tear my eyes out instead, thank you very much.
And look, we've hired a character played by Dame Edna to work at our firm who looks silly and has purple hair, and yet we're taken seriously in court! Aren't we quirky???
Add in that Ally gains a 10-year-old daughter in this season through pretty ridiculous circumstances and you have me wanting to stick a knitting needle in my ear too. I HATE it when tv shows, movies, anything add the incredibly-too-worldly for their age kid. I don't even care if kids are "more advanced" now than they were when I was ten, I was not trying to get my parents to have sex and talking about french kissing with my classmates when I was freaking 10 years old. BUT ISN'T IT CUTE?!?! Ally's daughter is trying to get her laid, awwwww. KILL ME.
If I ever decide to watch these scenes again, it will probably be with the sound down.
But seriously, the episodes kept getting in the way of me finishing off tapes. I would tape other stuff off them and could get rid of them, save for one episode of Ally with Jon in it. At least now I won't ever have to do that again.
