Warm fuzzies
May. 20th, 2004 06:44 amSo, I'm making screencaps from Nobody's Baby a little while ago, and I'm starting to realize that this movie was a live action "Beavis and Butthead" because it's about two dumbasses who are complete losers in life, but you can't help but like them. This brought back really fun memories of my teenage years from 16-18, which were two of the best (and strangely, worst) years of my life.
I was on the newspaper staff at school and I had lots of friends. My close friend Alisha was dating Scot, who had many friends you could generally call "metalheads." Half of them defied stereotype by being freakin' geniuses; they were in honors classes, in the top of the class, got top numbers on the SATs, those types of kids. I can't remember what they were called, but there were these math tests you could pay to take and you'd get a trophy for top marks. I remember several of these guys taking that trip to take the tests, and how we decorated their cars for their return home with shoe polish messages like, "I paid to take math tests." XD Then there were the flip-side guys, the ones who skipped class all the time and flunked out. I always thought it was an interesting gaggle of friends, how they got along so great, yet many of them were so different in how they did in school.
Anyway, I have lots of memories of hanging out with them at Scot's house and watching tv, and how they'd make fun of the show or whatever we were watching. We actually watched a lot of Mtv (it was the late 80's; Mtv didn't totally suck yet) and made fun of the videos. These guys were *hilarious.* They made me laugh all the time, all of them. This was a few years before Beavis and Butthead and long before I was conscious of MST3K, so they were my first riffing gang, heh. It didn't matter if they were one of the drop-outs or the brainiacs - I liked them all, they were all fun to be around. Once I saw B&B, it was totally like being put right back there on the couch, riffing Mtv with Scot's friends. So I've always had a soft spot for that show, and a soft spot for good-hearted dumbasses, heehee.
As I'm taking screencaps and grinning and thinking of my own personal Beavis and Buttheads, the following scene comes up:
I AM CORNHOLIO!
They made everything easier to take. :*)
