The lab didn't get my results done fast enough for me to get an appt today. I will be going in the morning sometime to get my test results. I bounce between distracting myself so I don't think about it to freaking out to telling myself I'm being silly. My instincts tell me the news isn't good, but maybe I'm wrong. I feel like a yo-yo.

While waiting to hear from the lab, I went to visit Kaye. She's doing better every day. We had a very nice visit and talked and joked a lot, and I got us McDonalds. I'm so glad she's still going to be with me; I don't know what I ever would have done without my best friend.

I got ahold of Kaye today. She's doing a lot better. Still in the hospital, but she sounded much stronger. She doesn't know when they will let her out. Kaye really wants me to come see her again soon, so I'm going to try for Monday or, at the latest, Tuesday. Just depends on work. If I'd known she was doing so much better, I would have gone and seen her sooner, but SOMEONE has been slacking off in updating me on her condition. *cough*Kaye'smom*cough* (Actually, she was probably just busy with all that's going on. ~_^) Then there was my own latest shit to consider... I just really wanted to make sure she was awake and pretty coherent before I made the long trip out there again, which would be a short(er) trip if anyone around here gave enough of a rat's ass about me to take me anywhere.

Kaye is soooo annoyed at still being in the hospital; she wants to go home. That's my Kaye. ^_^

Perspective

You know... I just can't get excited about "Supernatural" getting low ratings on Thursday night. When your best friend is seriously ill and you haven't heard anything new for two days, it really puts things into perspective.

I'm sitting on some potential news about myself that I'm waiting to hear on (I'll know Wednesday), and you know, it may not be good. I want the chance to talk to Kaye about it before I really get into it. But, a bunch of people choosing to watch "Lost" instead doesn't seem so important.

I've got The Day After Tomorrow on. For some reason, this movie is legendary at work. Everyone talks about it. Everyone has seen it. During training, the trainer asked if anyone had any other questions, and a girl jokingly asked if the movie came true, what building would we stand on top of to avoid the floods? And we actually discussed what was the tallest building in Dallas. Now that I'm watching it, it seems kind of laughable. Could global warming really happen that fast? Like, overnight?

The special effects are pretty damn neat, though. My dad would have loved this movie. He loved disaster films.

Back to my holding pattern.

I'm so exhausted.

SPN 'Dream a Little Dream of Me' blabber, cut for spoilers )

Hey Moosie! Catcher's Mitt dropped out of the race! \o/

No new news on Kaye. Thanks to everyone who bothered to say something nice and send Kaye good vibes. She needs them very badly right now.

Update

Kaye is doing well enough to have been moved out of the ICU today and into a regular room. They don't know when she can go home; she's still really weak. It was pretty serious. I visited her today and brought her a floppy beanbag calico kitty. :) It made me feel so good to hear that she'd been moved out of the ICU. The first words out of her mouth when she saw me were, "I love you." I know this really scared her. I hope she can go home soon.

I may elaborate more some other day; a bit too tired tonight.

Saw several people walking around today with circles of ashes on their foreheads. I can't remember ever seeing so many people participating in Ash Wednesday before.

My best friend Kaye is in the ICU with renal failure. I'm going to take a 2-hour bus ride to see her today. Please keep her in your good thoughts and prayers.

Just wanted to put this up here in case Julie or anyone else who may be looking for Kaye wanders over here - Kaye is in the hospital. Her hands are all swollen and sore. The doctor thinks it may be gout. They're still running tests and drugging her up. Ahhhh, painkillers... the good stuff... Hopefully, she'll be home soon, feeling all better. ^_^

Send her hugs!

Laurel
